The following letter was written by a couple of eighth grade students demonstrating tremendous care for our environment. These students have reached out to our senators by writing short letters on the importance of climate change.
Do you want your grandkids to have to wear gas masks because the air is so polluted? If we don’t start to care and protect our environment, then the safety of future generations will be at risk. We have to start caring for our planet, because it is vital to our existence and our responsibility to society.
We need to protect our environment because it is a sign if respect to our ancestors who showed a tremendous amount of love and respect for our environment. In today’s time, we have lost respect for our environment and our surroundings. We pollute, liter, abuse water sources, and cause global warming. We should protect earth because it is not just our home, but the home of animals, plants, and other organisms that we have no right to endanger.
According the World Health Organization, a recent study was conducted and found that about 92% of the world’s population breathes in some type of polluted air. If we don’t start changing our ways, then future generations won’t have a home. As we continue destroying Earth, we are advancing the extinction of the human race.
You can show your support for our environment by calling either one/or both of our Senators, Senator Lankford’s office at (202) 224-5754 and Senator Inhofe’s office at (202) 224-4721, and asking them to cosponsor H.R. 5031, the Challenges and Prizes for Climate Act of 2018.
